Fair Stories - Doug and Rick
From DougK: What an incredible night. Rick Bevington and I got to go to the lost with the Law and the Gospel. As soon as we started out, we were able to get into a couple of conversations with some groups of kids before even getting to the fair. One kid on a bike was very engaged, said he would consider these things and we said we would pray. A couple of young guys before the fair were not ready to die. They were not “good” according to God’s perfect standard - the 10 commandments. We were able to share that we are all guilty and the punishment is hell. And, of course the best news of all - God sent His Son to die for us - we broke God’s law but Jesus paid our fine. We made several trips around the fair, had many, many, conversations and passed out a number of tracts challenging people to read them and consider their eternity. There were 3 young guys at a picnic table. I broke the ice with the millions and then proceeded to ask them what happens when we die. Luke was across from me and he was engaged. His friend Bob said he was saved and then got up and stood back while I was talking. His other friend Dave was the mocker, but he listened. God was working on Luke. He was convicted by the Law, he understood his dilemma before God, he understood what Jesus did for him and what he must do to be saved. I asked him when he planned to do something about it. He said, “Tomorrow”. I told him that I would pray for him and that you do not know what a day will bring. He was SERIOUSLY under conviction. Please pray for him. Pray also for a young man named James. He was with 3 friends that were girls. We gave them millions and then I was able to work him through the Law and Gospel. He thought you had to be baptized to get to heaven - was he ever wrong. He now knows and I said we would pray for him. There was a big kid - 6’4” at least and about 250 lbs. getting fries with his little brother. I went up to him and asked him if he played football and what his name was. He said it was Kevin Mills and he is the Offensive Tackle for Canton McKinley and a Junior. I told him that I played football when I was in school, but he was a lot bigger than me! :) I gave him a million, told him that we were out sharing the gospel with people. I told him my testimony briefly and that we are all guilty and headed for hell…and must repent and put our trust in the Saviour. I encouraged him to read the message on the back and consider eternity. As I was leaving, I asked him if I would see him on TV playing and he smiled and said, “Yes”. I looked him in the eyes and said, “I will pray for you Kevin.” That was just a few…pray for the many that were open to hear…and for those that have a million with the truth that will make them free. May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!
